This collection of Cincinnati Park Board records consists of Park Board annual reports, information on property acquisitions for park land, field journals, financial records, gardening books, and several boxes of glass lantern slides and negatives. The slides in the collection include scenes from various Cincinnati parks, wildflowers, images of trees in Cincinnati Parks, and images depicting construction of Cincinnati parks. Most images are in black and white, but some have been colored. The collection also contains 17 scrapbooks with news clippings, photographs, and various information about Cincinnati Parks and the Cincinnati Zoo.

The City of Cincinnati formed the Board of Park Commissioners in 1906, and in 1907, the city adopted it's first park plan, "A Park System for the City of Cincinnati" by landscape architect, George Kessler. The city then embarked on an aggressive campaign of land acquisition, and by the 1920s, most of the parks recommeded in the 1907 plan were established including Mt. Airy Forest, Ault Park, and Mt.
